Sunia,
For "wild places", check the great little books the Sierra Club has printed:
WILD ITALY and WILD FRANCE. There's also WILD SPAIN. They emphasize designated
wilderness, wildlife refuge and forests, including some pockets in very man-
altered landscapes, and the areas are widely distributed over each of these
countries. These books are a good guide to the plants, birds, mammals and
other wildlife, and geology of each of the areas listed.
