Styrax

Dear All,

For those of you who read Pacific Horticulture magazine, you may have noticed an article in the latest edition (mine arrived in the mail today) about Styrax sp. I was very excited to see this article as its main character, Styrax redivivus, is one of my favorite plants. I purchased the one that I have here in my garden from the author, Philip Van Soelen (Cal Flora Nursery), eight years ago as a 1 gallon plant. This is the first year that it will come into full bloom. Last year I had less than 10 flowers, and the year before (at 6 years of age) it produced its first flower.
My first experience with this plant was in the Siskiyou mountains of Northern California where we located the plants by smell before site. The fragrance alone was enchanting and the sight was of a specimen in the form of a small tree, entirely covered in flowers. I had to have one.
So my question for you all is: Do any of you all grow or have experience growing this plant and or its relatives?

P.S. Many of us call this plant Styrax californica
