A quick online search showed it likes moist, shady places the best, but will tolerate drought if not in full sun.  Sound like finding it a spot it likes will be most successful.

Hi Linda,

I'm trying to grow it in south of France where the summers are hot and dry, and yes, it seems that it does not like heat, so it's much better to plant it in half shade.
It is planted since 2002 and does'nt exceed 50 cm; its better to prune it every year just before the growing season. Mine has never set berries but I suppose it's because he is not very happy here and prefers a cooler situation.

Hello all,

Is anyone growing this plant?  I just got some plugs and was wondering if this hypericum can handle my type of full summer sun - 100F for three months and drying winds (Zone 9) - will the leaves or tips get scorched?  Or should I plant it in part shade?  Do you know how large it eventually gets?  I am growing it for the foliage so I will be pruning it often.  Do you know how long it takes for it to put on berries?
