Dodonea viscosa 'purpurea'

I have this plant (tree?) growing in my front garden in the back of a border
where I have never thought of assessing its litter.  I am now considering
planting it in a back bed where the wind took an  E. nicholii this last
winter.  It will be approximately 12 feet from the pool (both mine and the
neighbor's behind me), and I wonder if anyone who has this has noticed
whether it is particularly messy or not.  Some seasonal droppage is
expected, but year-long litter is a nuisance.
