Does
anyone have experience of Orobanche (Broom rape)?. I have just come
across this wild plant in a friends garden and I must say I was intrigued by it
on first viewing. It looked like a survivor, the sort plant that could
endure in my rocky coastal garden and I pulled up several from her very
formal garden as she said they were 'weeds'. Weeds in someone elses
garden are not necessarily weeds in mine! I am always
looking for wild and indigenous plants because they seem to grow best in my
garden. But on reading about Orobanche on the internet it
seems that they are parasites and will debilitate any plants to which
they attach themselves. Needless to say the few that I brought home
are in a plastic bag awaiting their fate ...whatever that may be!
Any anecdotes, experience or information I will very be pleased to
have.
Best
wishes
Pamela
