In case anyone happens to be in the San Diego area this weekend, Saturday is the annual Encinitas Garden Festival & Tour. This is our 8th annual event to celebrate gardening, community and the horticultural history of Encinitas.
Each year, we select a neighborhood to highlight. This year, we have 21 gardens open - several belonging to artists or designers. This is a walking tour, so everyone parks remotely and rides a double decker bus to the tour neighborhood.
They arrive at our Gardeners' Marketplace to pick up a map and wristband. In the Marketplace, we have vendors who offer amazing plants, art, and great food. We also run talks most of the day so when people get tired of walking, they mosey back to the Marketplace for lunch, relax at the picnic tables where the speakers are, shop a little (or a lot) and then head back out to tour more gardens.
It is a lovely day. The forecast is for 77 degrees and sunny. The neighborhood overlooks the ocean so we'll have a lovely, cooling onshore breeze all day.
If you are nearby, please come!
Ticket information is at www.EncinitasGardenFestival.org
And if you do come, find me to say hello. As event chair, I am all over the place, but mostly in the Marketplace!
