Here in Victoria BC,Canada, 1 km from the sea, I have grown several
Eucryphias for about 25 years in a narrow space (about 4m) between two
houses. E. x nymansensis 'Nymansay' flowers every year. In a hard winter
it will get its leaves browned. It is as tall as a single storey house. E.x
n. 'Mt.Usher' has larger leaves and is more tender. It was killed one
year, but I had a cutting under cover so I replaced it. It is much slower
growing than 'Nymansay' and has not yet flowered. E. x intermedia
'Rostrevor' is very delicate and lacy looking with willowy branches and
small leaves. It has not yet flowered. Perhaps it needs more light, but
the Alba rose beside it covers itself in flowers every summer. I bought
the plants from Gossler Farms in Springfield Oregon, an interior location
that is much colder than the coast.
