Ernie Wasson (aka "sluggo" @ sirius.com) has written an excellent article
about Salvias for our Bay Area Gardener Web site. You can access it at
"Stories & Columns" from our home page (www.gardens.com). He's listed many
of his favorites and organized them in a meaningful way e.g., salvias for
shade, salvias for containers, and so on. He's also included comprehensive
listing of mail order sources and local sales.
Betsy's book is officially out today and should be showing up in local book
stores soon. You can also order it directly from Timber Press Inc -- there
will be a link at the top of our home page by midnight 4/17 PST. The full
title is "A Book of Salvias: Sages for Every Garden" by Betsy Clebsch.
I'm in the process of writing up an interview with Betsy that also will
include places she'll be talking and signing books over the next 6 weeks
(mostly Bay Area locations). It will be on our "Stories & Columns" section
sometime next week.
On another matter -- it was great fun to open up the Chronicle the day
before yesterday and see Sean's picture right on the front of the section
-- in full color, no less! I think the work he did on designing the
succulent section for the "Hollywood" sign was excellent. Hope everyone who
visits the show has a chance to see it.
