Speaking of unusual plants I came across the following site when looking
for some info on Harpagophytum procumbens grapple plant
(picture in the Hitchhiker section of this site)
The plant that really amazed me was the Wolffia.
How small do you think the smallest true flowering plant could be???
Well I bet you won't guess as small as this plant, Check it out.
I was chatting with one of the botanists at the Perth herbarium last
week and he was rabbitting on about Wolffia's and how cool they were, so
I was quite chuffed to email him this site address. Some of the other
plants on this site are pretty amazing as well.

Oh and the use of ground up buckeye seed for fish poison reminded me of
a native plant used in the Kimberley region of Australia. The seed are
little black and red beads commonly made into necklaces but are also
ground up and used as a fish poison. Can't for the life of me think of
a name though. I am hopeless at remembering names.
