Alessandra, the dwarf red oleander found in Italy is named 'Petite Red'.
Together with three other darf cultivars ('Petite White', 'Petite Salmon'
and 'Petite Pink') they were brought back from the U.S. by Rey nursery in
the 1970's. If I'm not mistaken, these cultivars were introduced from Kenya
by L.A. State ans County Arboretum. 'Petite Red' is the only hardy one, the
three others are very frost sensible.
Yes there are many other dwaf oleanders. Interesting are 'Angiolo Pucci'
orange yellow and 'Papa Gambetta' firy red (both semi-dwarf, 1 m high),
'Fiesta Pienk', nice free flowering pink coming from South Africa, 'Neguev'
pure white coming from Israel...
