I wonder, is this the same species that grows all over W. Turkey?  They
call it "kushkonmaz" there (literally, "the bird doesn't light [on it]").
I ate it a lot there; it's really wonderful.

They also eat lots of nettles in Greece; as a matter fact, I had a pitta
made from them (called tsouknidhOpitta) yesterday for Greek Easter.  Durn
good. :)

Greeks in the villages do love to collect wild greens.  A greek friend of
mine from Boston said that when he was a kid, they would drive out on
weekends and would see people digging greens out on the sides of the roads
- his father would automatically yell out, "Yeia sou patrioti!" (Hello,
countryman!) from the car. :)
