Cyndi,
I've been working on establishing such a discussion forum for the past
couple of months. It was probably an oversight to have not mentioned it to
this group. However, I've been careful not to talk too much about The Bay
Area Gardener because haven't wanted people on the group to feel that I'm
"advertising" my project too much. However, Sean and I have both mentioned
it every once in a while.
If you go to our main Web Site, http://www.gardens.com, you'll see a large
button on the home page that announces our Bulletin Board.
We have about 600 people a day coming to our site who access about 50,000
pages a month. I put up the bulletin board just recently and have working
to nurse it to health. Mostly this means that I personally answer each
question so that those writing in do get at least one response.
I had followed the work of Bill Robinson in LA in setting up the "green"
gardening newsgroup and know how hard it is to get a newsgroup going.
I haven't been hanging out on the newsgroups for a while -- too many hours
are spent on line as it is(!). Will check in and see how the disucssion is
going.
However, I would like to put in a plea to consider using the BB we've
already established. In addition to the BB, we include a lot of information
about what's going on gardening wise in Bay Area, calendar of events, local
columnists, nursery reviews, resources etc.
What do you think?
