Re: Carpenteria californica


I think you would want to grow this with some protection from the hottest
sun [ie, diffuse afternoon shade].  It will need supplemental water in its
first season, and perhaps in later years.  Otherwise, it's easily grown in
mediterranean climates.  Hardiness, perhaps to -10 C.

You shouldn't need to prune, except to remove dead shoots.  Pinching out
terminals of long shoots will encourage denser growth, of course.
