My Garden

Hi all,
Just thought id share with you an update on my little plot of
land. With the winter rains came many horrid weeds. Well, i finally
was able to have some time to work on the garden and now it is all
cleaned up. Its such a contrast actually seeing the soil instead of bur
clover, dandelions and weedy grasses. Many people who have seen it go
"wow". Two of my Marguerite bushes started to lose leaves, so i pruned
them hard and im seeing if i get new growth ( i was told not to do
that but i see some green sprouts now). My Stipa gigantea's are all
flowering beautifully. The finflorescences are all 4 1/2 feet high.
My Prunus cerassifera is fully leafed out and its now taller than i
am. The single california native bunchgrass i have has about 25
inflorescences, and it looks like a green fountain. The Microlepia
ferns under the juniper ( its in a tree form) have many 3 ft long
leaves, a real contrast from last year when the fronds were only about
a foot long. My Dietes are all starting to flower. This year they have
the most flowers ive seen on them. My Bamboo has several shoots coming
up. Its been in the ground for about five years and hasnt spread much
further than about 6 feet. A nice little surprise was a small patch of
Sky lupine popped up and has been flowering for the past three weeks. I
hope to collect its seeds and plant them else where when the time comes.

thats it,
 Barry Garcia
