Hello all,
I'm working on a lesson about Phygelius species and hybrids for the
garden. Since I've only had my P.aequalis 'Yellow Trumpet' in the ground
for 1 year, I'd love some personal experience input from anyone who's
grown it or any other of the hybrids for a while. How well it's done for
you and how large did it get. Bloom time and length?
Any special treatment? Can you use the flowers for cutting?
I know it's not strictly a Mediterranean climate plant, originating in
the mountains of EASTERN South Africa. But maybe we can stretch it a
bit? It sure is getting to be a popular flowering plant for the mixed
border. My 'Yellow Trumpet' is happy among the veronicas, penstemon and
salvias. Getting bigger and bigger!
Thanks, Jan
