re: plants for dry shade

May I also suggest helichrysum petiolarum "Limelight" as a superb
performer in dry shade. One plant can easily grow to a diameter of
6-8 feet, and about 18" tall. It never needs any water during the
dry summers after it gets established and the chartruese leaves
brighten up shady areas. I have two growing in the deep shade under
a redwood tree where very little else will thrive without
supplemental irrigation.

I also find the species, which is grey and grows in full sun, to be
useful in locations where it has enough room to stretch out.
Otherwise it can overwhelm nearby plants.
