olives etc

Thank you to those who responded to my query
about olives. I shall let you know how they
go. I concur with Trevor that Helleborus species
are one of the best performers for dry shade.
Japanese wind anemones (sorry I can't remember
the botanical name) and various Ajugas also do
well. I have also a Plectranthus (have no idea
which one) which does extremely well and at this
time of the year has put out great spires of
purple blossom. There are of course 3 garden
thugs which thrive in dry shade - Vinca major,
Ivy, and Tradescantia species. Actually I could add
Tecoma capensis, having spent money and time
getting rid of it after it had done its job of
quick screening.
