I hope Liz doesn't worry too much about virus stuff; its no one's fault but
the hackers, whom we need to inform and support each other against.
Thanks to folks for great help with ballota and crocosima suggestions. I
found a ballota at a local nursery called "Hallow's Green" which has
olive-green leaves of the felted variety and grows to 12" tall. It looks
like a great edger. I also replaced my deceased ballota with two new B.
psuedodictamnus, the plant that converted me to medits in the first place!
I read through the archives sometimes before I post questions to see what's
already been discussed, but couldn't find much on clematis. I would like to
grow a dark blue or purple variety (that is available from somewhere!) like
"etoile violette" (stretching the authenticty of the medit garden a bit).
Does anyone have experience with this variety? I read that someone thought
C. flammula was a weed, but this was one I saw listed as native to Crete.
Any medit-clematis suggestions?
Will clematis do well in fast-draining limed soil in full sun? Do clematis
have any pests to worry about? As I may have mentioned earlier, I've
planned and planted this garden in my neighbor's yard. She wants a rose but
doesn't want to maintain it. I don't want to maintain any more roses than I
already have. I was hoping to convince her of a clematis instead, but I
don't have any experience with clematis (as you may have already deduced).
Thanks again, list, this is a great place for plant lovers!
