Cornus stolonifera

This may or may not be a medit-appropriate question, but here goes....
I bought a cornus stolonifera (white flowering one) at one of my favorite
medit nurseries and in researching the plant in the Web, I find that it
needs wet conditions. I wonder if any of you have tried growing this plant
(or it's red-stemmed cousin), and if so, what conditions it seemed to like
most (or at least accepted). And in addition, does this mysterios cornus
virus attack so lovely a shrub?
