Oh yes, i came across those alternate names for it in web searches.
Unfortunately no info on germination. BUT, i thought the scarification
thing would work, so I tried it and yes, I have a couple of seedlings
coming up.  An odd thing about the seeds is the very strong fetid smell
they have. Not very pleasant. And, the largest wild A. lophantha/distachya
i have seen around is growing close to a building, which is where i think
it stays moist  longer.
