Deborah:
Feel free to give her my address--I'm not sure about the plant selection in
Bryan, College Station but there are some really good nurseries here in
Houston that I could send her to for a day trip.
If she wants to see gardens that thrive on their own and in a similar
climate, be sure to direct her to the Antique Rose Emporium in Independence,
Texas (Just north of Bellville, fairly close to your friend). My favorite
times of year to visit are the spring and fall when all the roses are in full
bloom.
The nursery offers much more than just roses too......they have a great
selection of perennails, natives, herbs, salvia's, ornamental veggies and
some grasses. In the fall they offer some unusual bulbs (old fashioned) that
would probably do well for her. Tell her to make an afternoon of it--it will
take her at least 2 hours to walk to the grounds and another 2 to shop!
