Many thanks for enlisting your Latin expert to resolve the problems of
Pietro's obscure text, deeply appreciated. I take your point about the
ablative of Cornus, but I am still mystified by the connection with
(toxic?) thistles. There could have been an error in the translation
from Arabic to to Latin sometime between the 11th and 13th centuries.
