Dear Friends of the Istituto Italiano di Cultura,

this is a Call for Volunteers for a Historic Italian Occasion to take place at the 8th Annual Yerba Buena Gardens Festival; "The Infiorata" (September 21-22, 2002- Presented in association with the City of Noto, Sicily, the Region of Sicily, the Consul General of Italy in SF, the Istituto Italiano di Cultura in SF, the Museo ItaloAmericano and the National Sicilian American Foundation.

A team of Volunteers will be required to assist in the preparation of the Infiorata. This will begin on the 17th of September and continue till the completion of the Infiorata in Yerba Buena Gardens on the weekend of the 21 and 22nd of September 2002.

The Infiorata is the Italian tradition that Celebrates the Feast of the Corpus Domini in June in Italy. At that time very large mosaic carpets of flowers are laid out on the street. We will replicate this Italian Event on the footpath of Yerba Buena Gardens in Downtown San Francisco with the guidance of the Infioratori, direct from Noto, Sicily.

Much assistance is required to prepare the 220,000 flowers required for this Infiorata! This is your opportunity to become an "Infioratori" at our Historic Occasion!
