Nan, if you are sure that it is B. rupestris (rupestre?) that is a "bottle
tree". Why would you want to prune it? No doubt the lower branches will come
off of their own accord - they are certainly not pruned off in the wild!
I wonder how tall it is; these are supposed to be slow growing, unlike B.
populneum which grows like a weed and is one in these parts.
