Canna hardiness

Here in California's Central Valley, I am aware of several well established plantings of Cannas that are never moved or mulched. We usually have a number of frosts every winter, with a dip or two down into the twenties every couple of years. Every eight or ten years a big dip in the jetstream brings us a few days of low twenties at night --- just enough to remind everyone of the perils of pushing the hardiness envelope.
None of these seems to have wiped out any of these plantings, all of which predate my own residence here. Alas, I am unable to tell you cultivar names, if indeed anyone remembers at this point. But I am reasonably sure that Cannas exist that would survive your winters.
Yours most respectfully, Michael Larmer
