Thanks for that Moira, it's nice to be back.
Incidentally, I believe I am correct in writing that at the time we
visited, the Osborne gardens were run by Debs Goodenough and the Botanic
Garden by her husband. Clearly a talented family team.

Although I have lived from time to time in England the IOW is one place

never managed to visit and I do regret this. It seems to have many
charms.

I was interested in your evaualtion of the huse at Osbourne. Victoria
seems to 
have had a sadly depressed view of life after Albert died and must have
been 
hell to live with. She would surely have benefited from proper
medication (and 
the Court with her!) if this had been available.
