A wire basket lined with the sheaths of palm frond
works wonders. There's a certain type of palm to use
and the name escapes me at the moment. They do this at
Filoli and UCBG in Berkeley.
Sphagnum moss has also been used, but it can get holes
in it from critters, etc using it for nesting, then
the soil pours out of the whole thing.
