THOSE little black dinosaurs are the larval form of a leafhopper. Some
years they are bad, other years they don't appear. I don't have any so far.
I have found that Iochroma does much better if I cut it back to bare wood
every year which I do in late winter when it is thinking about leafing out
soon. By then the old leaves look crummy anyway. This also controls the
size even though the new growth is full of vigor and blossoms.
