Croscosmias

Here in San Jose, we have had some success with two of them.  'Lucifer' is
on a low mound facing south but under the light shade line of pepper tree
(Schinus molle) with no water.  It blooms irregularly without leaf browning.
The other is 'Molly Bloom' (yellow) on the western edge of that shade line
with weekly water and it is in full bloom right now.  Both get some
scattered sun during the day.  They are not aggressively spreading.

On the other hand, watsonias are the bulbs that spread vigorously and bloom
little in my yard.  Haven't found the right spot for them yet.
