lupinus

Hello, does any of you have experience with lupinus chamissonis? Bought it a few months ago and everything was going well (growing and flowering) until 2 weeks ago when, with no aparent reason it dryed out. Is this normal? I thougt  it was a perenial, but could I be wrong? I also had the idea that it was a drouhgt tolerant plant, maybe not...I have colected some seeds and intend to guive it another try. Are they easy germinators?
