Oranges

	I'm originally from North Dakota.

I grew up thinking oranges were made in the back room of the local grocery.

So when I got to San Luis Obispo I planted a palm tree to signify that I was now a Californian and a Monterey Pine to remind of where I came from.

They are both gone now, 46 years later.

But I still have a California tree, an orange!

But I know little about it.

	It is producing fruit.

It starts out green and then turns orange.

But how do I know when to pick it?

If I wait too long it gets kind of dry inside, not the beautiful juicy texture of the grocery type.

There must be some clue as to just when is the right time to pick it.

Maybe a certain number of days after it turns orange!

Please help so I can become a real Californian and eat a wonderful, ripe orange off my own tree!
