RE: Shade tree, windy site?

Hello Gill!

What about Celtis australis (European Hackberry) Its a beautiful tree,
deciduous and fast growing .... not sure about the temps though.

Trees are poems that earth writes upon the sky,
We fell them down and turn them into paper,
That we may record our emptiness.

Subject: Shade tree, windy site?

Does anyone have any suggestions for a (preferably fast growing) shade
tree for a very windy site on poor soil? Would need to stand winter
temps of -8°C. Have been thinking about Melia azedarach but am worried
that the branches may be too brittle.
