Anyone heard of this one? It's a relative of Tigridia from South America,
and here is the description from the pot:
3' h cormous perennial for borders. Winter dormant. Attractive clumps of
narrow leaves. Lavender-blue flowers. Well-drained soil, moderate
irrigation. Full sun. Hardy to 15 degrees (F).
I tried to do a search for it on the 'net, and came up empty. The leaves
are similar to Tigridia--pleated and vaguely palm-like (not palmate, like a
palm tree's). Flower stalks look similar to Dietes, with lavender iris-like
flowers instead of white or yellow (I'm assuming from the buds and dead
flowers I've seen...I have yet to see one in full bloom).
If anyone here knows of a reason why this plant and my yard should not join
in horticultural matrimony, speak now or-- well, speak later, I guess.
Thanks,
Cheryl
