Fortunately, the only bamboos that will sprout from culms are usually
the tropical clump forming bamboos (and those spread slow, except a few
species). Again these are a few species that are fairly rare (last i
checked). Temperate bamboos dont do that (im assuming that clump of his
is a Phyllostachys aurea - Golden Goddess, one of the most common types
available) . Even if they did, you would be able to yank them out
before they sent out rhizomes.
BTW: do you know what species of bamboo it is?
