clippable natives

a belated contribution to your question about other clippable plants -
a few 'clippable' Australian natives are:

     Westringia fruticosa:

(Coastal Rosemary) similar to 'real' rosemary,
                                 but with wonderful grey foliage

     Leptospermum sp:

(Tea Trees) most will clip well. An old beach house
near me uses L. laevigatum as a hedge (grey
                                foliage) which looks great.

     Grevillea sp:

all the dense growing species clip well -
                                including G. rosmarinifolia, G. juniperina
                                and G. lavandulacea

     Syzygium and Acmena sp:

(Lilypilly) eg S. australe and A. smithii

     Pittosporum undulatum

(Sweet Pittosporum) Makes a wonderful hedge - sensational 'stop
in your tracks' scent - thick glossy
foliage - attractive orange berries - and
yes there is a catch - it has the potential
to become a weed - it is native to forests
in Gippsland as an understory plant, but on
the Mornington Peninsula and in the
Dandenong Ranges it has become a real pest
                                displacing indigenous flora.

     Susan
