Re: Miracle fruit

Thanks barry That will help
here is waht I have written so far.
Miracle Fruit
Synsepalum Dulcificum
There are few plants that excite my children. Brought up at the Fragrant
Garden full of witches's plants, rainforest marvels the rare and
mysterious they tend to be blaze about dad's latest plant. Not so the
Miracle fruit. They watch it intently, inquire over its health and pounce
on any ripe berries it might produce. The small bright-red fruit is sweet
with a mild and pleasant aftertaste. These little red berries perform the
"miracle" of changing or reversing taste buds so that sour lemons, limes,
bitter cumquats or grapefruits, become honey sweet and delicious. After
eating a berry my children will sit eating lemons and limes exclaiming
delicious wonderful, YUM, gobble, gobble, slurp etc. It is quite strange
to see someone sit and devour sour fruit as if it was nectar of the gods.
The effects of the taste bud reversal lasts for 1-3 hours. It is certainy
a great way of getting vitamin C into kids. I wonder if it could also be
of use to diabetics or others who cannot eat sugar.
Miracle Fruit is small, rare, tropical, African shrub or tree. We have
grown them for some years and found small tress frost sensitive but larger
trees cope with our occasional frost. They are said to need acid soil, lots
of water and some shade. It grows well in a pot. They are not easy to find
in nurseries and sell from $20 up.
