Re: propagating hydrangea

the common mop top varieties of hydrangea are some of the easiest plants to 
propagate from cuttings (about 12-15cm long) taken after flowering (late 
summer / autumn) - I have had good success rates by just popping them in 
pots with a normal potting mix - no sand/peat mix, no heat, no rooting 
hormone etc - but I am sure if you did the 'right things' the success rate 
would improve
