I received superb, fresh, cutting material of x Ruthyrospolia from Tim
this morning - for which I'm extremely grateful and have managed to
make about 6 cuttings of various sorts, so at least a few should be
fine. A flower head filled with buds plus an open flower was on one
piece and I now have it in water. As soon as several more open to
give a better show, I'll take a close-up and post it to a web page.
It is a very pretty thing - and I'm surprised it is so rare at the
moment. It looks pretty tough and from what I can remember of it's
parents, I suspect it would be a very easy 'doer' for mild climates or
frost free conservatories in colder areas.
Now will Ipomoea indica close early as a total eclipse causes
nightfall at 11.00 am today, or will it ignore the darkness and remain
open until 5.00pm as usual? I suspect while folks are wondering
around looking at the sky, I'll be out watching the effects (if any)
on the plants in my garden. It is going to be a bit of a confusing
sort of day.
