Thinking more about this, i think i will split the seeds into three
treatments:

Boiling water
Scarification
Burning. 

I went back to the school just a few minutes ago and collected some pine
needles from the coulter pines they have there too (the "outside" yard is
an interesting mix of Quercus agrifolia, Pinus coulteri, Acacia
melanoxylon (the only ones that are broken up and ragged looking), and
Acacia baileyana). 

Then after i plant the seeds i will see which is the best treatment.
