Can you tell me more of what you mean in 'purchase facility'? Barnes&Noble
do ship worldwide, and it looks like those outside of North America are not
unduly penalized. For information about their shipping, check:
http://www.barnesandnoble.com/help/help.asp
If you can find some sort of flaw in their setup, please let me know. I
thought about Amazon.com for a while, but I found all sorts of people with
'stories' about them and less than satisfactory service. My most favorite
site was Powell's Book in Seattle, but they weren't big enough and did not
have all of the books we were already listing. While I am not enamoured
with a huge bookstore chain like Barnes&Noble (I live in an area which
is know for hundreds of small bookstores!), I found that they did do a lot
of business with outfits like Powell's for rare and out-of-print books.
They also seemed the most willing to listen to patrons and makes changes.
Non-profits seem to be important to them also, and they even provide a
number of free banners for important non-profits (cancer research, etc.)
who have linked up with them. I liked their 'Internet style'.
The concept of becoming an affiliate with Barnes & Noble was not really to
support the Medit-Plants web site. I doubt seriously that we'll get
enough 'kick-back' revenue from books orders on our site. But many people
are interested in ordering books online and linking up with a resource for
this seemed to make a lot of sense. I am very open to other avenues as well.
If anyone out there knows of an appropriate horticultural business to get
connected with, then please let me know.
