Cuphea macaluta

Here we go again!

I was given a nice young plant of this species a while ago and it has
proved to be an excellent garden subject, bearing very large
quantities of substantial, red tipped creamy flowers over a very long
period. I suspect it will eventually get to around 80 cms. in height
by about 100 cms across and I reckon I've got it sussed in terms of
its requirements, but cannot find any info on its origin. It probably
comes from Mexico/Central America, but if anyone can pin-point it for
me I'd be grateful.
