yet another website financing suggestion

Hello everyone-

The Master Gardeners of Monterey Bay
cleared over $4000 on our Fall garden tour last year.
we actually grossed $6012. our major xpenses were printing
and renting port-a lets.

We ordered 200 four-color tickets
but over 400 people showed up.
Extra tickets (which included a map and garden descriptions)
were hastily run off on copy machines as needed.

We printed extra copies of the posters that had advertised the tour
and sold them as well as plants that we had propagated
or had donated by some generous local nurseries.

Many people commented on the educational aspect of our tour,
as well as a willingness of garden owners to share cuttings.

Pulling off a garden tour takes a fair amount of work
from the garden owners as well as the tour committee.
But we felt it was a very successful fundraiser for us
and are doing it again this Autumn.

I think a Mediterranean gardens tour could do even better
and for those unable to attend,
photos of the day's event might be posted on the website
or sent as jpeg attachments to the list.
