I tracked down both these species in the Harkness Seed Handbook and can
at least confirm they are not synonymous.

Unfortunately, the information in this publication is pretty limited,
but -

E,coralloides Half-hardy perennial to 2' purplish flowers, Central and S
Italy, Sicily.
E. hybernia (sic)Perennial, warty seed capsules, West Europe, Ireland.

Some help at least, I guess. Coralloides at least sounds nicer.
