David, I just wanted to let you know how much I enjoy reading
your posts. You are so knowledgeable and explain stuff so well,
I feel like we have a great teacher in out midst.
These days, as a part of a vague self help campaign, I'm making
it a point to let folks know when I think good thoughts about
them.
I always forget though, aren't you in the East BAy? I used top
live in Oakland and Berkeley, and found it to be one of the best
overall growing areas imaginable. I mean, stuff really wants to
live there. Such a temperate clime, and just year round blooms
of all sorts of wonders.

Anyway, things are in mid winter cycle here in slightly colder,
well, make that much colder, a couple of bumps on the zone
schedule, I'd think, in Fairfax. And we have no direct
sunlight, well, maybe about an hour of filtered sun, in the main
parts of the garden, but overall, it's pretty dark. But look
closely, there is much going on. Leaves and stems are thickening
with new energy, some of the stuff I put in in the fall,
foxglove, Rhodies , various perennials are starting slowly to
take form. My new sage garden, with new salvia and agastache's
are sitting pretty still, but if I look close, I can see the
tiniest bit of movement along the stems.
I'm out there everyday, cleaning up, hacking, still have mild
poison oak, or some sort of rash that started out as P. Oak, who
knows anymore.

I've ordered some roses, and more salvia's, (I cannot find S.
Argentea anywhere), and some Ginger. From NOrth Carolina. This
is a stretch, definitely not Mediterranean, but my neighbor's
been showing off her damn ginger lilies to me long enough. I've
succumbed. Oh yes, (Hedychium)
"pink flame, gold flame, and Kikayu".

Well, just wanted to say hi to all.
