I've seen some of David's colorful landscape plans and elevation studies,
so I am not at all surprised to now learn about his artistic family. He
has a real gift for this sort of thing, and I'm envious.
I thought I'd also let people (who are local) know that David is slated to
talk at Ted Kipping's monthly potluck at the County Fair Building (old Hall
of FLowers), Golden Gate Park (9th and Lincoln) this week on Thursday,
12/14, giving a talk entitled 'Arabian Palace Gardens and the Alhambra', no
doubt detailing his time in Saudi Arabia the trip we got a taste of through
this group earlier this year. I'm interested to see the parallels he draws
between the current Saudi palaces and the historic Islamic palace in
Spain. Ted's potluck start with food at 7:30pm in the small conference
room, including great socializing with some interesting horticultural
types, followed by the talk in the main auditorium. It is a free event
(just bring good eats to share). If you'd like to get on the list to be
called each month about the itinerary, while you are there be sure and find
Ted's mom, Anna Ruth and give her your card.
