Astelia Finale (almost...!)

Moira - Many thanks for the info. The Collospermum double identity
explains why I couldn't find out anything about A. graminifolia.
Cunning folks, these taxonomists... I'll re-check with the friend who
swears A. glauca exists. BTW (hence the 'almost' in my title; once you
start this sort of thing, the hare runs and runs...and multiplies
while it's running: not I trick I ever mastered...) another friend
tells me there's an A. petriei, not NZ but Tasmanian. Up to the time
of that revelation, I'd thought the only Aussie (inc. Tas.) species
was A. alpina (to which, says the friend, A. petriei is v. similar).
Is he right do you know (or Margaret,if you're listening - and
haven't, sensibly, gone off to look at your roses)? Or is A. p. a
synonym for A. a.??

The weather here may be about to put a sudden end to this 'jungly
forest' fantasy, anyway - forecast is for snow moving down from
Scotland tomorrow. Maybe a white Christmas after all for our visiting
Australians, due to arrive next week.
