Clearly, the single 'n' version is most commonly used (not necessarily an indication of correctness). I would find that the 'nn' version would suggest its own correctness because of the unlikeliness of a 'typo' of this kind.

With the recent cold weather, some Brugs are sulking rather badly 'round here, though it is interesting how many still hold their flowers well and the leaves look in good shape. They seem to tolerate our heavy clay soils well (they are real water lovers) unless they have standing water at their roots during the cold season. A well-loved garden plant, they are often put in a prominent position, causing their winter state to be displayed! I often suggest to client to place these beautiful shrubs where they will be displayed to advantage during warm months, but not necessarily in a position that must provide year-'round effect in the landscape.
Looking over the above web sites, I'd love to see some of the double 'hose-in-hose' colored forms (salmon, rose, etc.) in the Bay Area. This is one of my favorite flower forms of Brugs and we typically only have the old-fashioned B. x candida 'Alba Plena' types in gardens here. There were also some interesting colored forms with deeply colored, wide picotee edges!! Very nice!
