Indeed Reeta
That is why I only advocated using it in a way that would have minimum
possibility of any ground contamination, but I would look on its use as a last resort anyway and am not using it myself for this problem.

Apropos of vinegar-based herbicides I have myself in the past simply used straight white vinegar(the cheapest I could get) and found this pretty effective, but as I mentioned in another posting I now have access to an organically safe material based on pine oil which I have come to use in preference to vinegar as I find slightly more effective. I don't normally anyway use it on actual beds, but only for such places as cracks in paths. My veg beds at least are sufficiently loose of texture for the occasional removal of deep-rooted perennials to take little effort. I have even had a dandelion root a foot long come out entire, right down to its fine tip when I just pulled it (I was so astonished I actually took the trouble to measure it)
