Re: Compacted root zones & tree health - giganteum & other trees

I remember at the Mariposa grove that they had
constructed fences quite a distance away from the
trees to protect them. I believe the ranger explained
it prevents compaction of their root zones.  It also
protected certain plants that grow under them, such as
the Snow Plants (Sarcodes).
