The only species of fig I can dicover which qualifies as Madagascaran is F lutea, which is described as native to most of Africa south of the Sahara and also found in Madagascar. This is one of the big sranglers which start high up on the crown of an unfortunate victim, grow roots down to the ground all round and then proceed to strangle their unwilling host. Not a nice well-behaved tree like the Egyptian Syacamore!
